"The Pursuit of Happiness" is a Ceramic Bas Relief Sculptural rendering of a United States flag by Ceramic Sculptor, Paul Frazer. Upon closer examination of the surface you will see stealth fighters, tanks, soldiers and ammunition embedded amongst the stars and stripes of Old Glory. Begun shortly after the September 11th bombings, the piece was completed in early 2003.
This piece is constructed of a clay body containing 30% paper pulp and was fired to Cone 1 in a gas kiln. The finished surface was painted with acrylics and sealed with tinted wax. The piece measures 32" wide and features a custom designed hanging apparatus.
This piece was recognized with an Award of Merit in a Regional Ceramic Exhibition and was also featured in an article about the show in the April 2004 issue of Ceramics Monthly.
